Frequently Asked Questions

Deployment

Can Comper be deployed on-premise in our own infrastructure?

Yes, absolutely. On-premise deployment is a core part of our design. We provide a Docker image that allows you to run Comper entirely within your own secure environment, ensuring your source code and data never leave your control.

Note: Since Comper is currently in private beta, you'll need to request a Docker Hub access token from us to download the Docker image. Please contact us to get started.

Pricing

What does the beta program cost?

The product is currently in a private beta as we work closely with our first partners. The cost is structured as a service engagement, combining discounted consultancy fees for our fractional CTO work with a small license fee for the product itself. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs, and we can provide a tailored quote for the engagement.

About Comper

What was the inspiration for building Comper?

The idea for Comper was born from direct experience with a common, multifaceted problem. As a CTO, our founder needed a "cockpit" to regain a high-level overview of a complex software landscape. As developers, we needed to quickly understand the context of the code we were editing. As external stakeholders, we wanted to see the reality of the systems, not just hear the story.

In short: software teams can often feel like a black box. We built Comper to change that.

What does "Comper" mean?

Comper comes from the Latin word "Comperio," which means to discover, to understand. That's exactly what Comper does—it helps you discover and understand your entire software landscape.

Technical

How fast is Comper?

Comper is built on a gaming engine and easily achieves 60Hz on modern laptops. The backend is written in Rust for optimal performance.

How long does it take to parse git history?

Once you add your GitHub/GitLab/Azure DevOps/Bitbucket API key, Comper will parse all git history from all your repositories within minutes.

What version control systems does Comper support?

Comper currently supports:

  • GitHub
  • GitLab
  • Azure DevOps
  • Bitbucket

More integrations are planned for the future.

Beta Program

How do I join the beta program?

You can contact us through our website to express interest in joining the beta program. We'll reach out to learn more about your use case.

When will Comper be publicly available?

We plan to launch publicly in mid-2026. Until then, we're working with beta customers to refine the product.

Security

Is my code secure?

Yes. With on-premise deployment, your code never leaves your infrastructure. All data is encrypted at rest, and Comper is designed with security as a first-class concern.

What data does Comper store?

Comper stores metadata about your codebase (file structure, commit history, contributor information) but never stores your actual source code unless you're using cloud features (which are optional).
